Adventure Impact

SEND Outdoor Learning

Adventure Impact (AIM) offers specialist development programmes for vulnerable young people and those with additional needs, enabling them to discover their potential through outdoor learning. Offering an alternative provision in Oxfordshire for those needing short-term breaks or long-term placements. We offer in-term activity programmes for students who need additional support. Many of the young people we work with are able to return to mainstream schooling after their time with us, with some moving on to specialist provisions.

Holistic Activities and Recognised Qualifications
We offer an extensive range of both on-site and off-site therapeutic outdoor activities, including Archery, Archery Tag, Bushcraft, Climbing, Fencing, Team Games, Circus Skills, Biking, Orienteering, Slacklining, Kayaking, Paddleboarding, and Canoeing. To ensure the provision is truly student-led, we also integrate their personal interests, which frequently include cooking, baking, scooting, music, and chess.
To provide clear structure and tangible milestones, we run AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS) certificates across all our activities. This gives a clear focus to each session and helps students recognise their own achievements. Furthermore, we actively use physical card and board games to encourage face-to-face interaction away from screens, directly supporting students who struggle with interpersonal and social skills.

Who do we work with?

Referrals are welcome from schools, pupil referral units, youth offending services, social care, and other charities or youth organisations.

We work with children and young people:

  • Children who are cared for or on the edge of care
  • At risk of exclusion or excluded from school
  • Not in education, employment or training
  • With physical or learning disabilities or additional needs

Our Aims

We aim to impact children and young people’s lives by offering them regular adventure and team-building events, holidays and programmes, thereby enabling them to:

  • Have fun, appreciate the outdoors and form positive memories and experiences.
  • Grow self-confidence, independence and social skills by ‘learning outside the classroom ‘, giving responsibility and encouraging leadership qualities and team ethos.
  • Develop advanced skills and recognise achievements through the AQA Award Scheme.
  • Specifically, we aim to reduce behavioural problems, increase educational engagement, improve academic performance, and prevent antisocial and offending behaviour.
  • Most children return to full-time education after their work with us – either back to mainstream schooling or into a specialist school as a direct result of our work with them.

Flexible Attendance and Pricing
We understand that transition can be challenging. For students who have been out of school or require extra support, we can offer a phased approach—starting with half-days and building to full-day sessions as their familiarity and confidence grow. Individual students can attend up to three sessions per week.
  • Half-Day Sessions (10:00 am – 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm): £145 per session
  • Full-Day Sessions (10:00 am – 3:00 pm): £235 per session

Home-to-Site Transport Support
To assist students experiencing school refusal or anxiety about leaving the house, we offer a dedicated transport service from Witney to our site. Our staff use this vital travel time proactively, engaging the young person in supportive discussions to help them prepare mentally for the day ahead and develop lifelong self-regulation skills.
Daybook Session Reports
We provide daily session report feedback for all our students, which can be shared with teachers, SENCO, and parents. These include details of the activities we have worked on and photos from the day. We include space for the students to reflect on their day and to have input.

Reporting

We can provide Impact reports for funding applications upon request, as well as TAF reports. We can also provide Risk Benefit Analysis documents for each of our activities, where required. Adventure Plus is an AALA-registered organisation.

The AIM Team

We know the importance of familiarity for the young people we work with. We offer a casual initial visit and tour, where we limit the number of people we introduce them to, allow them time to explore the site with us, and help them acclimatise ahead of their first visit.

Our AIM students can also benefit from working with Heidi, our trained therapy dog, an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel. She is probably the most popular member of the team!

Therapy Dog

My son faces so many challenges in his life daily and is often very misunderstood, but not here. One of his biggest battles is low self-esteem and a lack of confidence in virtually everything. In his short time with Adventure Plus I can honestly say he has finally found a place that he feels he belongs to and doesn’t feel alone or as self critical. He is really starting to believe in himself and build confidence. I think these new found skills will continue to grow and hopefully stay with him throughout his life. The instructors here are all a parent could wish for for their child, and I feel very lucky to have found such an environment with amazing people, to offer my son the type of care, support, guidance and fun that every child deserves.

Aim Parent
