Summer Adventures with A+

Monday, October 01, 2018

We have had an absolute blast on our Total Adventure holidays this summer! Over 100 children and 66 volunteers joined our qualified instructors at beautiful Windmill Farm during the adventure activity weeks.

‘Campers’ were spoilt for choice with daily activity options ranging from canoeing on the nearby Thames to crafting in the barn. Each day the children signed up for their choice of activities in each of the three activity sessions and then went out to enjoy an action packed day with friends, both old and new.

What did our 2018 campers have to say after their Total Adventure...

What was the best thing about Total Adventure Summer?

  • Learning more about God and the bible
  • I got to make friends as I hardly can as I'm shy
  • The activities because it's different from what I normally do

What was your greatest personal achievement?

  • I capsized a kayak and got out
  • Doing an Eskimo roll
  • Learning more about God

A highlight for us this year was having Nathaniel with us for his 24th TA! He started camping with us on Total Adventure holidays as a child and has kept coming back every summer since. He has walked the entire journey of camper, Scamper through to leader and volunteer! What a thrill to have journeyed with him over the years. Oh the adventures we have had!

Something else we are really thankful for is the fact that the Chairman of our A+ board, Brian Foxton, known to the campers as ‘The Dean’ is actively involved in our Total Adventure holidays each year. He takes time out of his work with the London Borough of Hackney Highways to come and support the life changing work at Adventure Plus. How satisfying to know that we are lead and directed by someone who really know what challenges and opportunities our young people are facing.

Time to book your next adventure?
