Forest School Training at Adventure Plus

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

We are really excited to be working with Where The Fruit Is, an accredited Forest School Training provider running the brand new, innovative training course. Our 80 acre site will be the venue for their intensive 2 week Premium Level 3 event in January 2019.

This qualification provides the learner with the skills and knowledge to risk assess, set up and manage a Forest School site, it equips them to plan and safely facilitate Forest School programmes with a range of client groups in line with the Forest School ethos and principles.

"The scientific research on nature connection has convinced the NHS of the value of green space and woods for wellbeing. Many educators in Oxfordshire have already joined the number of professionals using nature to make our children happier and healthier. This training programme is developed to sustainably increase the social capital of Forest School, meeting the wellbeing needs of not only the children participating in Forest School but the leaders and all those involved.

The government published the ’25 year environment plan’ earlier this year and it clearly states they will:

  • Help people improve their health and wellbeing by using green spaces including through mental health services.
  • Encourage children to be close to nature, in and out of school, with particular focus on disadvantaged areas. ‘Green’ our towns and cities by creating green infrastructure and planting one million urban trees.
  • Make 2019 a year of action for the environment, working with Step Up To Serve and other partners to help children and young people from all backgrounds to engage with nature and improve the environment.
  • At Where The Fruit Is, we strongly believe in The Transformation Through Nature Connection. And that runs through our training. With sustainability and wellbeing being at the forefront of all of our courses."    Rowan Lawfull, Where The Fruit is.

Forest School is a model of outdoor education which encourages children to interact with natural spaces in order to develop their personal, social and technical skills. Our outdoor classrooms nestled amongst the ash and hazel trees in our copse will be the perfect venue for this training.

We have been impressed with all that we have heard about how lives are being touched and transformed through these exciting programmes and are thrilled to have 2 of our A+ team signed up for the course already.

If you are interested in facilitating Forest School for your school, youth group or even as a career then this course will give you all the qualifications needed. Forest School Level 3 Forest leader as ratified by the Forest School Association. For further details about what will be covered and how to book please visit the Where The Fruit Is website.
