Windmill Farm Centre Manager

We are looking for a team player who will ensure a warm welcome awaits all guests and visitors to Windmill Farm. This person will also be responsible for leading the growing team of housekeeping staff. This is a full-time live-in role including some weekends, evenings and on-call. Subsidised housing is provided (3 bed cottage on-site). Previous experience a definite advantage.

This is the ideal role for a friendly and efficient person who will plan guests' stays from initial enquiry to arrival with their group. This is a Mon-Fri full-time position. Living on site is not required.

Adventure Impact and Activity Education Internship

We are looking for the right person to join our Adventure Impact team who work with young people with additional needs and/or those who come from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds. We are passionate that the benefits of outdoor activities and education should be available to all, regardless of their life circumstances. Adventure Impact is the fastest growing part of Adventure Plus as we look to reach out and make a huge difference to young people who, for whatever reason, are finding life tough.

The right person would share this passion and ideally have some experience of working with disadvantaged or vulnerable young people and a love of the outdoors.

The candidate would also work alongside our instructor team in delivering adventure activities on our site and further afield.

Training in a number of adventure activities would be provided. In the past this has included, amongst others, LEL3, MIAS Level 1 and BCU canoe and kayak coach.

On site accommodation would be a possibility.

Start date is flexible.

Activity Coach

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of our Coaching and Activity team.  

Adventure Plus runs a wide variety of activities, residentials and expeditions.

The right person would have a love for the outdoors, a passion to work with children and young people and some experience and qualifications in the world of outdoor activities. Desired but not essential qualifications would be a selection from: Paddlesport Instructor (Level 1 Canoe and Kayak coach), LEL3, Archery GB level 1 coach, and a mountain bike leader award.  

Higher level qualifications such as SPA, ML and Coach Award Level 2 would also be welcomed.

Start date would be flexible but a May start would be ideal. 

Pay dependent on qualifications and experience.

Adventure Base Construction Co-ordinator (PT)

We are looking for the right person to co-ordinate the development of our Adventure Base. You may be recently retired with a relevant construction background (e.g. in architecture, construction project management, a civil engineer or a QS…) and would like to use your skills at this Christian adventure centre. You would be involved in ensuring that the Adventure Base is constructed safely and within budget and to time so we can begin to welcome young people on life-changing adventures at the brand new Adventure Base.

Work as part of a growing team of passionate people reporting directly to Jon Cox, A+ Exec. Director.

Assist in planning the development process, liaise with architects and the ‘A+ Development Group', engage and coordinate contractors, ensure the development runs safely, on time and to budget.

This is a part time role, requiring flexibility to meet contractors, architects and A+ management, as the project unfolds.

This could be a paid or ‘voluntary retirement’ role.

Fundraising Co-ordinator (PT)

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to co-ordinate fundraising across the different areas of Adventure Plus operations and development. Someone with proven organisational ability and project management experience, ideally in the realm of fundraising, who can plan a variety of initiatives, encourage and lead our volunteer and part time team; and who can also write accurately, follow application guidelines and keep to deadlines.

The successful candidate will also aim to recruit and co-ordinate a growing team of fundraising volunteers and part-time bid writers and researchers ensuring they are on track with applications for specific projects, applying by deadlines and ensuring we thank supporters and keep in touch into the future.

Chief Instructor: i/c Training and H&S in Adventure Activities

We are looking for someone with an appetite for leading by example in the outdoors, a passion for adventure and a desire to inspire others.

Experience of professional Adventure Centre management and team leadership will be an advantage. A range of (AALS in scope) qualifications. Proven organisational ability and a desire to develop safe and clear systems for team training, kit storage and maintenance. A vision to help Adventure Plus create a cutting edge, exciting Adventure Base. Experience of helping develop adventure centre facilities an advantage.

Human Resources Manager (PT)

Could you help support HR provision for our growing teams at Adventure Plus (A+) and Windmill Farm?

Key roles would include supporting our recruitment process, advertising positions, helping create specific Job Profiles, manage applications and help shortlist. 

You would help to set up interviews and then draw up the relevant contract (based on existing A+/ WF contracts) & job descriptions (in consultation with the Line Manager and Management), and then supporting the introduction and induction process and everything else needed to first pay day.

We would also ask you to flag up reminders of probation periods and other significant HR dates (e.g. end of fixed term contract) and advise on and assist as necessary with employment issues that might arise (as far as your expertise allows). 

This is a key role in helping encourage and support our dynamic and growing team. 

This is a part time position. An average of 1 day a week, paid on an hourly basis as the work is required. The salary will be based on recognition of experience and qualifications, but noting that this is the charitable sector.

Adventure Youth Worker and Senior Activity Coach 

A role for someone who can also provide leadership for our team in our activities here at A+ and at other venues. The right candidate will have a desire to be a credible Christian witness in their role and one of the following qualifications: Mountain Leader, D of E Expedition Assessor as well as one or more of the following qualifications: UKCC L2, SPA, MIAS L2, British Fencing Leader or Archery GB Instructor.

Windmill Farm Kitchen Assistant and Housekeeping Staff

Internship: Adventure Education & Conservation Co-ordinator

This A+ / A Rocha internship has two strands:

Conservation and Land Management (Autumn – Spring): including practical conservation tasks such woodland management and organising Volunteer Conservation Days, e.g. tree planting and hedge laying; contributing towards the design of wildlife areas on the new Adventure Base site; and developing wildlife survey skills.

Adventure Education (Spring-Summer): including training in a number of adventure activities and working alongside the A+ instructor team delivering adventure activities on our site and further afield (eg at Ashburnham Place, Quinta Centre or the Brecon Beacons.)

Internship: Conservation & Land Management Co-ordinator 

This A+ / A Rocha internship will provide training and experience in practical conservation and land management as A+ design & coordinate the layout for an Outdoor Education & Adventure Youth work centre in line with our Conservation Site Management Plan.
