Referrals can be made by Schools, Pupil Referral Units, Youth Offending Services, Social Services or Youth Organisations by completing our referral form. See Who Can Benefit? for examples of the types of people who can be referred.

Assessment & Supervision

The needs of the group are discussed with the leader and goals for the programme agreed. If possible a meeting with the group will also be held prior to the programme starting. Activities are then selected and tailored to incorporate lessons to achieve these goals.

The referring organisation are responsible for providing appropriate levels of supervision during the programmes. A+ will provide the necessary number of qualified instructors for the group. For small groups, A+ can also provide group supervision for an additional cost.

Monitoring & Evaluation

A brief evaluation of the outcomes is carried out by referrers/teachers/parents and the young people. This is done both at the start and end of the programmes. Results are fed back to referrers/teachers/parents and also used to improve future programmes.

Health & Safety

A+ is licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) and all activities are provided by appropriately qualified instructors. All staff and volunteers have enhanced CRB checks. A signed health & consent form is required from a parent/carer before the programme.

Referrals

The equipment, personal concern and level of instruction suited ideally what some would describe as a difficult group of young people
