Taster Courses engage, motivate and inspire young people. Participants can achieve the ASDAN Activity Award (1 credit) and A+ achievement awards. This is ideal for building a sense of belonging in a team and helping each young person realise they have a positive contribution to make.
Four ½-day sessions run over consecutive days or weeks, introducing adventure activities and building confidence as they experience anxiety and overcome fears. A wide range of activities are available, e.g.:
- Canoeing skills – work with a partner to learn strokes and craft control
- Climbing – challenge yourself on a climbing wall
- Fencing – understand the value of very controlled aggression
- Archery – develop patience and go for gold
- Bike skills – try our obstacle course and off-road riding

Discovery Programmes build trust, develop team working skills and achieve results for young people. Participants can achieve a Level 1 Wider Key Skills qualification in Working with Others. This is ideal for building confidence, improving motivation and developing life skills.
The 10-week programme involves developing skills in adventure activities such as biking and bushcraft. This is done in pairs as well as groups. Progress is evidenced in portfolios and skills demonstrated on the assessment days. Other activities are interspersed to develop wider skills and interest.
